Abstract :
A simulation study of the EM algorithm for image reconstruction in PET is discussed. Recently a method to stop the iterations before the image quality starts to deteriorate has been proposed by G. Kontaxakis and G. Tzanakos (IEEE Nucl. Sci. Symp. , 1992). Here, a further study of the method is presented in an effort to apply the stopping rule to individual elements or groups of elements of the image vector
