  • Abstract
Disappearing barriers in the telecom industry, fertile application innovation and rabid competition have created a new breed of players in our industry: Digital Service Providers. Reliant on next generation broadband networks, these new DSPs not only stimulate broadband consumption and use network capacity but also sometimes offer voice/messaging services and broadband for free. How to compete? Traditional operators must exploit their key competencies within an increasingly broad and complex value chain in which conventional “telecom” services are increasingly taken for granted. The session will explore the potential to build businesses on such core platforms as: - Customer base/mix of customers; - Customer info (preferences, behaviour) - Network delivery and therefore ad distribution capability to multiple screens - Ownership of media inventory online, on mobile portals and increasingly on IPTV; - Customer Services; - Payment/Billing relationship
