Abstract :
The product economy of China is experiencing the transformation from the manufacturing to the creative industry. In this period, the desire for industrial design, especially of the small and medium-sized private enterprises, is much more than the past any period. In spite of the rapid development of Chinese industrial design for nearly 20 years, further research about design methods and modes suited to different types of enterprises has not developed to great extent. The obvious characteristics of the product design for small and medium-sized private enterprises are mainly in the changeable demands and short development cycle. The classic structured mode of industrial design emphasizes the planning and research. It can not fully suitable for the demands above, for the lack of sufficient flexibility and elasticity. These problems are becoming solved appropriately after the proposal of agile industrial design method. This paper puts emphasis on introducing the background of agile industrial design and discussing the features of design mode, design methods and iterative process. After make reference to the agile design on software development and integrate their characteristics with industrial design, the factor distribution for iterative process and design mode of agile industrial design are established. The study results are expected to some practice guidance and reference.
