Abstract
This paper focuses on the main economic data of the major industrial sectors in the Tianjin Binhai New Area and the nine provinces along the Yellow River over the years. Based on the current specialization status and level of the major industrial sectors in the Binhai New Area and the Yellow River Basin, and combining relevant principles like international trade, industrial clustering, regional specialization with economic indicators like Krugman coefficient (regional division of labor index), non-parametric Malmquist productivity index, this paper analyses and compares the specialization level in the Binhai New Area and the Yellow River basin over the same period, discusses the influence of specialization on the regional economic development and further explores the possibility of competition and development of regional economy under the specialization level in the Binhai New Area and the Yellow River basin.
