Abstract :
Because of the operation characters of power system, high-power electronic devices, such as active power filter (APF), could not be tested fully in field before commissioning. To solve this problem, the hardware-in-the-loop system (HIL) which is comprised of real-time digital simulator (RTDS) and the APF is used to test the functionality and performance of the APF in place of the real system. We introduce and analyze its settings and running results of the HIL simulation system in detail, and explain its function and composition detailedly. Furthermore some methods are adopted to eliminate delays which exist in real system but can not be modeled in off-line simulation. Results of offline simulation and online simulation are also presented. From the comparison of results we can see that this HIL system is feasible and effective and it is necessary to study it.
