Abstract
We discuss the prism waveguide coupler where the guiding layer is left-handed metamaterial. The reflection coefficient of this system is obtained, and the reflection spectroscopy takes on a series of reflection dips, which demonstrate that incident lights are coupled into the left-handed waveguide effectively. It is shown that the reflected beam undergoes a lateral shift which can be both positive and negative, depending on the thickness of the coupling layer.
