Abstract
It was suggested that the nonbinary nature of chaotic spreading sequences could result in an improvement in the low probability of intercept (LPI) performance of chaotic direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DSSS) signals. In this paper, the structure of two intercept receivers for chaotic DSSS signals, namely, four-level and optimal receivers, are derived and a performance comparison between the proposed receivers and the binary-correlating receiver - which does not exploit the multilevel character of chaotic sequences - is provided.
