The hand-held satellite telephone Inmarsat-P will fulfil one of mankind´s ultimate dreams, the ability to communicate instantly and conveniently virtually anywhere on Earth. Inmarsat, a world leader in global mobile satellite communications, is well advanced in its planning for this global mobile phone of the future, with introduction targeted for 1999-2000. An overview is given of Inmarsat´s approach to the challenge of developing and implementing this global hand-held phone service
