Abstract :
We present a collision detection technique for a large cluster of customer in E-PON. Using bi-directional ASE amplification of a SOA at the input stage of the optical splitter, collision was sensed to broadcast service signals to all optical network units in the cluster. This method also provides a signal gain to the upstream signal through the SOA.
