Abstract
Recently, cloud computing becomes the new direction of future network computing. The traditional operating system cannot support heterogeneous multicore platforms, and cannot meet the requirements of cloud computing application well. So developing a new network computing operating system for multicore and clouds is extremely important. This paper analyzes the deficiencies of traditional operating system, and figures out the challenges that the new network computing operating systems face. After describing the design principles, we propose the prototype architecture of vStarCloud.
