Abstract
The shining economic performance and competitive prowess of East Asian nations is well documented. This study highlights important features of East Asia´s national innovation and technology management systems which give rise to strong competitive performance and a capacity for technological leapfrogging. It further underscores success factors capable of emulation by other nations as well as lessons of failures to be avoided
