Abstract
With the need for language study and the popularity of personal computers, college students are requesting more and more resources for language learning. In this case, many English learning websites are emerging. This paper presents the investigation of learning websites in teaching English language to college students. First, the concept of online learning website is explained by answering some commonly asked questions, and the relationship between the college students and teachers in websites environments are considered. Then, the relationship between personal computer usage and performance in English language learning is investigated; it is showed that college students who spent one or more hours in the English learning websites could achieve higher scores in English. Finally, some essential evaluation criteria for English learning websites are introduced, and suggestions and principles for designing learning websites are presented.
