Abstract
Compass is a typical traditional Chinese practical artifact. In this paper, the basic structure, the design idea and the production process of the WanAn Compass are introduced. The visual patterns and design culture are carefully analyzed combine with basic principle of compass. In conclusion, the containing design concept is appraised and summarized, and its effect on modern design is analyzed.
