Abstract
This paper presents that Gaussian superlattices have a band structure which essentially consists of three kinds of bands in an energy axis unlike the periodic superlattices. Two of them are minibands (or passbands) and minigaps (or stopbands) as well as the periodic superlattices. The other is a class of bands which contain several sharp resonant peaks. This paper shows a close relation between the band structure of Gaussian superlattices and that of periodic superlattices. According to the relation, the former can be estimated without direct calculation from the latter effectively evaluated by applying image parameters in circuit theory
