Abstract :
Collaborative CAD (or collaborative modelling) has been an active research domain for the past a few years due to the increasing commercial competition. Collaborative modelling, which is the base of 3D Collaborative CAD, has attracted many researchers interest. Current CAD system is typically parametric and feature based system. One of the major problems in current 3D modelling is the persistent naming problem. Persistent naming problem has some specific characteristics different from traditional one due to concurrency and heterogeneous issues. This paper proposes a solution for persistently naming topological entities of sweeping features for replicated collaborative CAD system. The proposed solution applies a method of sorting geometric primitives of sweeping profile of sweeping features to achieve name consistency. The proposed solution is implemented in a prototype of replicated collaborative modelling system CHDU_CPFMS.
