Abstract :
The paper reports simulated BER performance of differential detection Gaussian minimum shift keying in frequency selective radio channels. Both one and two-bit differential receivers have been considered. The channel impulse responses profiles of indoor and outdoor environments were generated by measurements and by the channel simulator SIRCIM. In order to reduce intersymbol interference, a new nonlinear equalizer is also presented and its effectiveness for the considered channels is shown. Performance of the equalizer is also compared favorably with that obtained by using fixed phase cancellation techniques on the IF signal. Lastly, in order to avoid time consuming computer simulations, an approximated simple formula for the bit error rate of the system in the presence of frequency selective channels is reported. It just makes use of the eye diagram of the demodulated signal at the proper sampling phase
