Abstract :
A class of adaptive filtering algorithms has recently been developed which appears to be very useful for removing multipath and interference from communication signals. Practical application of this class of algorithms requires that approximate convergence time of the algorithms be predicted given signal properties and filter parameters. This paper develops a set of formulas which predict the filter convergence rate for one or more sinusoidal inputs. Simulation work verifies the accuracy of the formulas. The formulas are shown to provide an interesting contrast with the performance of an LMS-based adaptive filter.
