Abstract :
A deconvolution approach based on higher-order statistics processing is presented for the simultaneous solution of multiuser interference and multipath propagation (each channel between the mobile transmitter and the base station receiver is afflicted by different characteristics) when multiuser reception is employed in the uplink of a cellular direct sequence spread spectrum code division multiple access (CDMA) system. It is shown how with block processing or adaptive implementation of the algorithm one can obtain signal separation without any knowledge of the channels (or any training signal) in severe channel conditions, when traditional minimum mean square error receivers cannot be used. The proposed adaptive implementation seems to be attractive due to numerical stability and computational complexity with respect to other adaptive schemes based on higher-order statistics
