Abstract :
Deregulation is not the correct word for the liberalisation of the European telecommunications market rather, it is re-regulation, emphasising competition rules instead of protection of monopolies. The PRISM project studies automated service management in this context. Security is an important part of these studies, emphasising the inter-domain aspects of security in a multi-provider environment. The regulatory environment and its implications for service management is examined, leading to suggestions for a likely pan-European management infrastructure. Management systems are viewed as independent security domains, which must share a common, partly standardised inter-domain security policy in order to cooperate
