Abstract :
The technique of surface reconstruction with point clouds has extensive use in surface modeling and visualization. Triangulation of point cloud data is an important method of surface reconstruction. In this paper, we analyzed the characteristics of the point cloud data obtained with contact measurement system and proposed an algorithm of triangulation. Firstly, using the chord-angular deviation criterion to reduce the original point clouds, then, The procedure of triangulation is presented that to construct the quadrangle with 4 points in contiguous 2 scanning lines, by compare the distance of diagonals and connect the two points which are near..All triangles meet the criterion of optimization. Example in this paper shows that the algorithm is efficient and easy to realize.
