Abstract :
In addition to call set-up messages, the common channel signaling (CCS) network will transport primarily the advanced intelligent network (AIN) and other service-associated transaction messages. To deploy new services, and to maintain the quality of existing services; the CCS network capacity needs to be well-managed. The impact of AIN services on the CCS network is analyzed. The analysis takes into consideration AIN service-specific information which includes service configuration, penetration rate, and call flow. This results in a CCS traffic forecasting method which makes AIN service planning and CCS network capacity management much more accurate and effective than a previous method. The previous method assumed that CCS traffic would grow in proportion to that of the message network. Our results show that, with AIN services, traffic growth of the CCS network can be much higher than that of the message network. This applies in general to all CCS linksets, and is most remarkable for the A linksets connecting SCPs
