Abstract
This paper addresses the intra-office diversity of common channel signaling (CCS) links. Specifically, it: (1) advocates the need for a standard industry definition of CCS link diversity, (2) gives an historical perspective of work to implement CCS link diversity along with the corresponding issues and concerns, (3) outlines a diversity management process to improve the implementation and maintenance of diverse CCS link paths in a network, and (4) identifies the industry need to develop and use reliability and risk assessment models that will address specific problems regarding the intra-office diversity of CCS links
