“Ideological & Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis” (referred to as the “Basis”) is the first ideological and political theory course for university students. This study starts by analysis of the reasons for poor effectiveness of the “Basis” course, and then it gives inspiration from the Reception Esthetics to the “Basis” teaching philosophy. Furthermore, the experiential teaching method is used to strengthen the emotional education, and the subject-based teaching method for improving assessment standards, plus self-examination to enhance the practical aspects and so on. Practice has proved that the above series of teaching method reform is effectively operational as a good way to improve the reception results of the “Basis” course.
