Abstract :
In image compression methods based on wavelet transform, the biorthogonal filters proposed by Cohen, Daubechies and Feauveau (here referred to as CDF filters) have been widely used. In this paper the operator matrix of the wavelet transform with CDF filters is constructed by the lifting scheme implementation of wavelet transforms. The general representation of these matrices is also given. As an application of it, the performance of the CDF filters in image compression is analyzed in a theoretical way compared with other orthogonal transforms such as DFT and DCT
