  • Abstract
    A method based on the wavelet packet transform for obtaining the sonagram of audio signals with high resolution is presented in this paper. The time-frequency localization and multiresolution analysis of the wavelet packets are discussed. The tree decomposition algorithm is applied for selecting the best basis in order to decompose a given signal into resume and detail. The original signal is reconstructed exactly from a few coefficients as well. Theoretical analysis and computer simulations show that wavelet packets have good localization in both time and frequency and offer a valuable means for analyzing the feature of a signal in the sonagram
