Abstract
The aim of this paper is to present a promising approach to improve speech quality problems. For this purpose, an original idea is developed: by 1/f fluctuation theory, we present a speech quality improvement system (called SQIS) for improving speech generated from an automatic speech system, therefore a high quality speech can be created. It is well known that the 1/f fluctuation is an irregular oscillation in the natural physical world and is a comfortable and agreeable sensation for human. This SQIS has been tested by some simple Japanese utterances. The results show that this method will be a powerfull tool for automatic creation of high quality speech and for research on automatic prosody generation
