Abstract
Multi-Pulse excited LPC is a promising method to satisfy the current needs for speech coding at medium bit rates and to produce high quality coded speech. Using a new single-chip digital signal processor that can execute 4 million floating-point instructions per second, we have implemented a complex multipulse codec. Our implementation is intended as a flexible research tool for evaluating the coder performance, tuning the coder parameters and listening to a wide range of speech material.
