Abstract :
A spectral estimation technique based on the quotient-difference (QD) algorithm of Rutishouser is proposed. The model assumed is a sum of nonharmonically related damped exponentials. The frequencies and damping factors are found directly from the data avoiding the need for rooting a polynomial as required in the closely related Prony´ s Energy Spectral Density (ESD) technique.
