Abstract :
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is a large software consultancy organization offering IT solutions to a variety of clients on a variety of platforms. TCS hires engineering graduates from different disciplines and converts them into software engineers through its own model. The model has evolved over the last three decades and has kept pace with technology trends. The systemic approach used in defining the training framework is highlighted. This has led to induction training for fresh hires and continuing professional development programs for existing consultants. The induction training has been greatly influenced and maps well with the SWEBOK project objectives. The linkages to related disciplines (as defined in the SWEBOK project) especially systems engineering and mathematics are indicated
