Abstract :
Continuous-wave laser operation near 1 mum is studied at room temperature with c-cut and a-cut Yb:YAl3(BO3)4 crystals end-pumped by a fiber-coupled diode-laser achieving an output power of 10.6 W and a slope efficiency of 72%.
