Abstract :
The paper reports on ongoing work in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Wales. It describes a learning environment (Software Engineering Teaching and Learning System, SETLAS), that has been successfully used with first year software engineering students and that is the result of a synergy between several groups within the department. The resulting system has exceeded the objectives for which it was initially designed and improved student performance and motivation
