Abstract :
Many problems have been identified in Internet applications such as slow network-access speed, frequent packet loss, etc. The constraints on bandwidth, excessive server downloading, instability of network performance and other factors may contribute to these problems. To seek the solutions to these problems in Internet, the author in this paper proposes the CDN (Content Delivery Network)-and-H.264 based multiple description (MD) coding method. Three MD coding schemes are presented and tested. The experimental results show that the proposed coding approaches can effectively be applied to video transmission over Internet.
