  • Abstract
A new micromotor structure proposed uses an electrostatic bearing to levitate the rotor. A sampling controller digitally controls five degrees of freedom for levitation by sensing differential capacitances. The controller is compatible with an existing rotation controller and has been implemented in a 1.2-μm, double-poly CMOS process. It uses a low noise circuit to resolve the polarity of charge packets as small as 500 aC (3000 e-) every 1.5 μs
