Research and Practice on Application of Bamboo in Modern Product Design

By means of field research, this study conducts a staged investigation on the market conditions and traditional & modern technologies for bamboo processing, collects and sorts the data regarding design of modern bamboo products, analyzes the relationship between individual differences in material and utilization rate, and draws the conclusion that the more individual differences are, the lower the utilization rate is. Also, it´s believed in this study that the bamboo materials with great individual differences must be used together with other materials so as to achieve reasonable configuration, thereby overcoming the problems in structure, function and aesthetic appreciation. Moreover, this paper conducts an analysis from the perspectives of point, line, surface and volume, sums up the application of various types of bamboo materials, and finally demonstrates the design of modern bamboo products by designing a set of bamboo-board table and chairs for dining.
