Abstract :
Phasor Measurements Units (PMUs) are intended for evaluation of synchrophasors. Some properties of PMU are defined in the document IEEEC37.118:2005. This document describes, above all, communication with PMU and measurement accuracy in the steady state. The binding description of implementation of the actual phasor evaluation in the form of an international standard does not exist. The accuracy of the evaluation of the angle and the phasor amplitude depends on various circumstances. The verified PMU functions are a frequently discussed topic in professional communities, which may result in the new IEEE document in late 2011. All producers of PMU declare conformity with the requirements of IEEE C37.118, but this does not mean that the PMU behaves correctly during network dynamic states. This article describes an open conception of the tester of both the static and dynamic properties of the PMU which was designed and implemented on the basis of virtual instrumentation. The results of the first set of the performed tests are presented here as well.
