  • Abstract
In this paper, we apply the Multiple Velocity Difference (MVD) model to the two-lane traffic system and present an extended model of two-lane traffic in which vehicles change the lane by a deterministic rule. Then, we investigate the typical traffic induced by a car accident on the left lane under the open boundary. We carry out the simulation to observe the evolution of traffic jam. The simulation results suggest that traffic jams are extended upstream from the stopped car and the two-lane MVD model can suppress the traffic jam effectively.
