Abstract
Two-dimensional static numerical model is developed to study the equilibrium of a single-point mooring as used by P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology. The model have been used for processing the data of “Megapolygon” experiment conducted by Russian oceanographers in 1987 in the northwestern Pacific. Results obtained revealed that during a storm passage the instruments vertical upward displacements led to temperature disturbances measured by the current meter thermistor comparable with the temperature fluctuations typical for mesoscale eddies
