Spatial and Temporal Patterns Analysis of Social-Economic Development between Liaoning and Ohio Based on Geoda

This paper analyzed and compared the economic and social development of Liaoning and Ohio on county-level by Geoda. Namely, in continual space and a large time scale, an adequate discussion was made for the temporal and spatial vicissitudes of industrial cluster and the spatial correlation of population and GDP of Liaoning Province, and regional differences of per capita income and employment population of the State of Ohio. And at last, with whole population, employment rate, per capita income and per capita GDP as indexes, this paper made a comparison between the Spatial and Temporal Patterns of Economic Development of Liaoning Province and the State of Ohio. The conclusion are that per capita income in the State of Ohio shows a corresponding increase trend with the total population and employment population, while in Liaoning Province, the polarization of GDP is very distinct. Even for counties beside Shenyang and Dalian, the two central cities which hold a safe lead, the GDP and employment rate are not high. This phenomenon shows that comparing with the State of Ohio, in Liaoning Province, the spatial correlation is not so distinct, the aggregation is not so strong, and there is a big gap in the overall economic conditions. These patterns remind us that in the future we should pay enough attention to spatial distribution and its promoting effect on the economy.
