Abstract :
A container terminal is a typical discrete event dynamic system (DEDS). The paper uses Stochastic Petri Net to establish both a hierarchical model of the container terminal capacity and a dynamic model of subsystems. By means of WITNESS, a dynamic modelling software, the capacities of the subsystems are determined and the overall bottleneck of the capacity system is detected. Finally, a scheme to improve the bottleneck and promote the total capacity is presented.
