Abstract :
The application of linguistic model in geographic information science has always been an important topic discussed in relevant theoretical field in recent years. By comparing map with natural language, the method and theory of linguistics were applied in the field of cartography and cartographic symbol system was regarded as a two-dimensional graphic language. Structure of cartographic language including language units, syntactic rule and semantic rule were discussed. Cartographic semantic model was built by using extended description logic ALCRP(D). It represents the semantics and their interrelationships of symbols of cartographic language and solves formal representation of cartographic semantics.
