Abstract :
Describes the use of the angular spectrum of plane waves in finding the diffraction patterns for obstacles encountered in UHF mobile radio propagation. The method for computing the diffracted fields in space due a single knife edge is developed and is used to compute the diffraction by multiple knife edges and the reflection from the ground. The results obtained are similar to those obtained using the parabolic equation approximation but the development provides a better physical model. The results may be of use in mobile radio system design
