Abstract :
In many practical applications, it is necessary to interpolate between known samples of a signal which is produced by, or viewed through, an averaging operation. Such a signal is not bandlimited and the application of a bandlimited interpolator may not be the best thing to do. It is pointed out that by formulating the interpolation problem in terms of optimal signal recovery, a best interpolator may be designed for the averaged data and that in certain special cases, the optimal interpolation is simply a piecewise-linear interpolation
