Abstract :
Digital cordless phone (DCP) systems are CDMA-based TDD systems that operate in the 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz ISM bands. DCP systems define a common air interface (CAI) that (i) meets the FCC´s Part 15.247 requirements, (ii) provides a full-duplex 32 kbps bearer capability, and (iii) supports multiple bearers. The primary application is toll-quality voice communications in microcellular environments. The CAI enables a common handset to operate in multiple environments: residential cordless, wireless PBX, and cordless payphones. The system protocols provide for interoperability between handsets and basesets from different manufacturers as well as manufacturer-specific enhancements. DCP systems also support data and multimedia applications and are compatible with FCC regulations for both licensed and unlicensed PCS. This paper covers the DCP systems specifications
