Abstract :
Recognition of the outlines of objects is a fundamental problem in image analysis, with applications in many areas, including industrial inspection and medical imaging. This paper describes how an optimal method of edge analysis can be used in conjunction with a syntax describing the outlines of objects to give a method of object recognition that allows knowledge of the object to be included in the contour analysis.
