Abstract
In the paper, a new type of cylindrical waveguide with RHM core and LHM cladding is proposed to study the new mechanism to slow down light wave. In terms of the cancellation of total power flow at the interface between right-handed and left-handed materials, slow light propagation can be reached. Our results show that with appropriate permeability ratio or negative permeability, the light waves can be fully stopped in such a waveguide. Drude model is used in finding the frequency at which light wave can be stopped.
