Abstract :
Using 30 m resolution DEM to extract the elevation, slope, aspect, amplitude and water information of Nu People and Lisu Peopl´s residential area on the ARCGIS software platform . The settlements, and water information were provided by National Geographic 1:250000 basic geographic information and data. All of this information was used for spatial overlay analysis to obtain the quantitative relationship between the spatial distribution of settlements of Nu People and Lisu People. About 97.6% of Nu People and 92.2% of Lisu People live at an altitude of 1000 to 2500 meters, In gently sloping ground ,Nu People located 18.5% of its population in 9.14% of its land area, while Lisu People located 24.1% of its population in 18.1% of its land area. From the slope side the distribution condition of the Nu People is better than that of the Lisu People; from the aspect , the sunny slopes have more settlements of Nu People and Lisu People than the shady slopes, so the distribution of settlements is reasonable. It is mostly amplitude of 600 meters in Nu People´s residential distribution area , while Lisu People´s settlements are scattered at the amplitude of 600 meters higher. There is higher drainage density in the Lisu People´s distribution area and water resources are extremely rich, but it has a smaller drainage density than the distribution of Nu People.
