Abstract
The degree of phonological degeneration of the voices of 68 subjects (35 healthy and 33 suffering from some laryngeal pathology) has been studied by analysing various features of the respective voice signals. Seven parameters were extracted from the Spanish vowel /a/, and the extent to which the corresponding features of the voice signal were affected by pathological conditions was evaluated. The perturbations of intensity seemed to be the most usual characteristics of pathological voices.
