Abstract
Tile caching technology can significantly improve the efficiency of WebGIS systems. However, the current tile caching only works well on data that is never or seldom updated. Hence, traditional tile caching could not be applied to editable WebGIS. This paper proposes a dynamic tile caching method (D-TileCaching), by which tile caches can be updated in real time and thus are applicable for editable WebGIS systems. This approach is successfully applied to land planning in Zhejiang Province. The testing results of the application demonstrate that this dynamic tile caching method can greatly increase the system efficiency of editable WebGIS systems and can meet the demands of map clients.
