Abstract :
Lightning to tall structures, such as wind turbine towers, power poles, etc., results in relatively high transient voltages. These lightning generated voltages can cause insulation failures and generate safety problems for humans and animals in the vicinity of the strike. This paper addresses the issues relative to these phenomena and describes a model for predicting lightning effects on a wind turbine/generator tower
