Abstract :
Video compositing represents a significant problem in multi-channel patient monitoring, since the latency caused by decompression, recompression and additional processing procedure needs to be minimized. In this paper, we present a new compositing method for video transmission based on the discrete cosine transform (DCT) for medical applications. When compared to the conventional hybrid methods, the DCT compositing method achieves better performance in reducing computational complexity and improving video quality.
